Privacy Policy

LocalThink Inc. ("LocalThink," "we," "us"), a company incorporated in the State of Delaware, United States, builds and publishes software products, developer tools, and AI infrastructure services. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit our websites, contact us, purchase our products, or use our services, regardless of where in the world you are located.

Information We Collect

We may collect contact information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, company name, and message content. We may also collect basic technical information such as browser type, device information, IP address, pages visited, and approximate usage timestamps.

LocalThink ID Account Data

When you create a LocalThink ID, we store account and authentication data on LocalThink Inc. servers, including your email address, LocalThink ID, a hashed password (we never store your plaintext password), account role/status, and account creation and update timestamps.

Analytics Data

We collect basic, privacy-conscious analytics for our websites, including the page path visited, referrer, browser user agent, a one-way hashed version of your IP address (not the raw IP address), and an approximate country from Cloudflare request metadata where available. This data is used to understand site traffic and is not linked to your LocalThink ID.

Payment and Order Data

If you purchase a paid product or license, we (or our payment processor, Stripe) collect order data such as your email, name, product purchased, order amount, currency, and payment status. LocalThink Inc. does not directly store your full payment card details; card processing is handled by Stripe.

LTF Builder Chrome Extension

LTF Builder does not collect, transmit, sell, or share user data. The extension reads the current supported ChatGPT or Claude conversation only after the user clicks the Capture button. Conversation content is processed locally in the browser and is used only to generate a downloadable .ltf.md file.

LTF Builder does not transmit captured conversation content to LocalThink Inc. or any other third party.

LTF Builder is not affiliated with OpenAI, ChatGPT, Anthropic, or Claude.

LocalThink Desktop App

LocalThink Desktop is a local-first, offline-first application. Account and authentication data described above is stored on LocalThink Inc. servers for identity and authentication purposes only.

The following data is stored exclusively on your device and is never uploaded to LocalThink Inc. servers:

  • AI conversation content and LTF files
  • LLM provider API keys (e.g., OpenRouter, OpenCode Go)
  • Search indexes and local file metadata
  • Application settings and preferences

LLM requests are sent directly from your device to your chosen LLM provider. These requests do not pass through LocalThink Inc. servers. Your use of third-party LLM services is subject to the respective provider's privacy policy.

An authentication token (JWT) is stored locally on your device after login. This token is used solely to verify your identity and may be periodically validated against LocalThink Inc. servers when an internet connection is available. Core local library, search, and file management functionality remains available offline.

How We Use Information

We use information to operate our websites and services, respond to enquiries, process orders, provide support, improve product reliability, protect against abuse, maintain security, and comply with applicable legal obligations.

Service Providers

We use a limited set of third-party service providers to operate our business, including Stripe (payment processing), Resend (transactional email delivery), and Cloudflare (hosting, database, and infrastructure). These providers may process information only as needed to provide services to LocalThink Inc. and are bound by their own privacy and security obligations.

Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for business, security, legal, and operational purposes. You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal information where applicable.

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and similar U.S. state privacy laws. Subject to applicable legal exceptions, these rights may include the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose about you
  • Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Delete personal information we hold about you
  • Object to, or restrict, certain processing of your personal information
  • Data portability, where technically feasible
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights

LocalThink Inc. does not sell personal information and does not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@localthink.ai. We will verify your request and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. If you are in the EU/UK and believe we have not adequately addressed your concern, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

International Data Transfers

LocalThink Inc. is based in the United States, and information we collect may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate transfer safeguards, which may include standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms, for transfers of personal information out of the EU, UK, or Switzerland.
